WE DON’T REALLY CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS IN THE APOCALYPSE

The soundtrack for this piece was a combination of Station Eleven, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Road soundtracks. I was very excited to get through November’s piece and work on this. The vision came to mind way back while working on The Flame Queen, but I knew it had to be December’s offering.

I love blending divine elements into fantasy work, and this is no exception. The Christmas star beams down on a solitary post-apocalyptic scavenger climbing the bombed out shells of the city. In my mind, they have no idea what the Christmas star is because Christmas doesn’t exist after civilization gets wiped out. Well, Christmas as a consumer-rich holiday. The essence of something cosmic, something godlike still exists, but it’s no longer celebrated.

Drawn on Procreate, this download is a print-ready PDF file. It is composed as a full bleed, full resolution image you can print on letter size paper to fit a standard 8 x 10” frame. Larger prints may result in lower resolutions and sizing. (Framed image is for demonstration purposes only. This download does not come with a frame.)

Subscribe to The Circle (O) and you get anytime download access to this work and the entire monthly art archive as well as a few extras for less than what you’d pay per month for downloads.

The file size on the process clip was too big for this page and had to be trimmed. For the full video, please visit my YouTube channel.
