FAQs
Do you use AI?
Yes. Some backgrounds, policy text, and navigational text have been rendered by AI (Squarespace AI) prompted by my own drawings and art (and my face for my about section image).
No. None of my actual artwork is rendered by AI. It’s all hand-drawn either on paper with pen & ink or using Procreate on my iPad Pro. I have rid the site of any other AI produced art.
Yes. I am aware of the impacts of AI (this is a way bigger conversation than can be answered here since it’s impossible to avoid AI if you use any creative studio software to make digital art, which I do). When or if the day comes I have the time or can afford employing a designer to handle all the mundane and marketing aspects of this site, I will.
No. Unfortunately, today is not that day. Today I still have to go to my job to support myself.
How large an image can I print from the PDF?
The maximum printable size before the resolution degrades visually is 16 x 20 inches.
The optimal size for full resolution is 8 x 10 inches. I draw them at this size because you can produce a very nice print on even a low-quality printer with standard letter paper.
In general, I recommend having them printed at a quality print shop. Most UPS Stores can produce a high-quality print from your PDF file for only a few dollars.
The PDF’s are intended to print greyscale with slight tonal variations in the strokes and layers. They should look like actual pen marks and are not intended to be completely black. If you prefer darker lines, you may have to adjust the print contrast.
How do I color pages on my device?
Subscribers get access to PNG files for coloring on their devices.
iOS users can use the Procreate app to color on their device. If you use a free iOS art app, it may follow the same guidelines as below:
Open a blank canvas in Procreate.
Tap on the Add menu at the top. Click on Add from File. Choose the digital file from the folder you saved it in.
Tap on the Layers menu and adjust the layer style to ‘Multiply’
Add a new layer below the file layer and color away.
You may need to adjust the layer size after it is added depending on what size you made the canvas. Alternatively, you can go to the canvas info menu and ‘Crop or resize’ the canvas to fit.
For Android users, it is recommended to use the Autodesk app.
Open app → tap gallery icon → tap “+” → choose “Import Image”
Resize & center your line art → tap ✔️ to confirm
Open Layers:
Set line art layer to “Multiply”
Lock the line art layer to avoid drawing on it
Tap “+” to add a new layer under the line art
Color on the new layer using brushes or the fill tool
Use extra layers for shadows, highlights, or experiments
Tap menu (☰) → Export to save/share (use PNG to keep transparency)
How many times can I print my file?
As many times as you like. You don’t have to worry about archival properties of your print if you don’t want because you can always make a fresh print.
Any prints you make are for personal use only, so I’d appreciate it if you didn’t share prints with everyone. Unless you can convince them to drop by the site and buy the files for themselves. Better yet, become a subscriber and get full access to all the files.
I feel like it should go without saying, but selling unauthorized prints from my files is theft and would be handled as such if you are caught. Using my files to render AI versions of the same images would also be theft and handled as such.
Ask me a question.
If it is a frequently asked question, as the page title implies, I will answer it here to the best of my abilities. If it is a question related to the privacy policy or terms of use, and cannot be found on this page, please include your name and email so that I can reply personally.
I don’t have time to respond to every question. I also do not respond to requests to discuss or argue via this form. If you must, you can hit me up on one of the social media links at the bottom of the page, where I can properly ignore such requests as the internet meant for it to be. Unless it’s a really good request, in which case, I might respond.
Personal questions may or may not be answered in my subscribers extra section of The O. I will no longer answer any personal questions on this page unless it is relevant to the operation of the site.
