The remnant of intellect. That which binds and orders the chaos into being. Separating the good from the hateful. The tenet of those who help.
What we are condemned to repeat
September’s theme is the ruin of wisdom. It starts at the carving of an ideology sparking in the sculptor’s mind. The sculptor transforms the ideology into a monument, a legacy. Eventually the wearing of time, stress, war, and neglect erodes the ideology into ruin. Only a bolt of inspiration in the dark reminds us of what once was.
This theme is echoed in September’s art piece. A hollow, blind politician leading into the ruin of meaninglessness while the victims of his ideology grasp for his attention.
I’m in the USA, and when I look at the current administration, I see fearful men executing their will but knowing there’s only emptiness in their faith and desires. They understanding full well they are leading America into ruin, but they still believe there’s a greater purpose. The world has been in the grips of cruel, untrustworthy authorities before. We do seem condemned to repeat our past.
I chose September for this image because I believe the event which triggered America’s fractured foundations, the moment we could feel something fall into ruins, was the World Trade Center attack. America still seeks to heal this grief. I believe it’s how we succumbed to an authoritarian ideology that came waving an American flag.
This month is a dark one for me, and I’m typically a person who enjoys dark stuff. This is a whole different feeling of frustration and fear. The only thing I have is my voice to reach up and draw something you’ll hear. I hope it reaches you.

Who is Codefreespirit?
My name is John Glock. I live in the USA. The one near the Gulf of Mexico, not the Gulf of America. I’m an artist, writer, and educated overthinker. Even earned a BA in Philosophy to prove it.
My visual voice grew up in a small mountain town and loved waterfalls, forests, muppets, comics, D&D, and Star Wars. It matured toward detailed narrative artists like Edward Gorey, David Lynch, and William Blake. In the late nineties, I discovered tarot art, and never went back to the mundane again. 2001 was the year I created my most well known work, The Eternal Dream Tarot. I stopped selling it to finish college, and that’s when my voice disappeared for many years.
Now that I’m around the 50 year mark, I’ve tucked away enough to give this creativity biz another chance. I know my approach is unrefined and doesn’t follow the marketing rule books, but I hope you connect with my art and it means something to you. If it does, please spread the word to the people who bring meaning to your life.
